Review of Youngblood Campsite (Primitive Camp Zone C) in Citrus Tract - Withlacoochee State Forest

We have stayed at this location a couple of times. This is a first come - first served site although it is customary that who ever shows stays at the site since no reservations are required.

Hiking to the site was mostly through pine forest with some shade. From the pin location for low profile vehicles, hiking is down a fire road then on the loop C trail.

Staying the night here, we were awakened by coyotes almost every night. On the weekend you can also expect to here off road vehicles on the fire road reving to make it through the sugar sand near the sight.

Also note, if it rains while you are here, the conditions on the road will change significantly so please be aware.

We have never seen too much wildlife while staying here but it is nice for a quick trip to recharge or for hiking the Loop trails.

Exploring the caves are a treat while staying here. In my opinion Jeep cave is the prettiest because it lacks the graffiti the more popular Peace and Dames Caves have.

It also has some pretty cool hiking in different sections of the tract. An especially cool area to explore is by Lizzie Hart Sink. It is really different compared to most of Florida Hiking.
