Special Notes

They sell fire wood for a very reasonable price. This is a nonprofit organization that serves youth groups throughout Florida. Youth groups camp free according to the website.

We attended Hangcon here. This is our second time attending. The campground has a little bit of everything in the way of camp sites except cement pads and sewer hookups. It also hosts music festivals throughout the year with a bluegrass festival apparently the major event of the year. Hiking is limited here but there are several trails nearby to explore. There is a small creek flowing through the campground and a large lake.

There are many electric and water hook up sites and quite a few primitive campsite s. The electric and water hookup sites are plenty shaded but with little in the way of vegetation between sites. The primitive areas are everything from wide open field type camping to wooded areas with loads of trees and vegetation between “sites”.

We stayed once in the more field like area and this time in the wooded area. We lean more to the secluded areas, so this worked great for us.

They have a playground for the kids. They also have 2 pavilions and kitchen that can apparently be rented. There are bathrooms by the large pavilion and also a row of about 8 individual restrooms and 8 showers on the back side.

The campground is a non-profit organization that helps youth groups learn to enjoy nature. So all the camping fees and aluminum can recycling goes for this purpose. They do also rent campsites to individual campers.

All in all we had a good time here! I will have a separate post later specific to Hangcon 2022.

Happy Camping!

PS. I love camping.
